Here at Campus Pride, we offer volunteer opportunities for bright and passionate student leaders and activists. Volunteer to write with us and help us, among other tasks:
- Provide in-depth commentary on LGBT current events
- News and opinion analysis of LGBT topics and trends
- Discussion of LGBT trends in colleges and universities
- Blog about your experiences as a student leader on or off campus
Volunteer bloggers and contributors are expected to contribute at least two pieces (400 words minimum) each month. For more information, email matt@campuspride.org.
SheWired.com, Here Media’s premiere site for lesbians and bisexual women, is looking for snappy writers with a solid knowledge of pop culture and LGBT history to contribute thoughtful, fun and timely entertainment, political and lifestyle pieces to the site.
Our goal is to always try to get at the intersection of pop culture and academia by positing the news of the day in a larger historical / cultural context.
We focus on entertainment news and features relevant to the lesbian community, which could focus on lesbian entertainers, characters on television or in film and actresses / musicians who generally appeal to the community and who tend to be allies.
Entertainment pieces we run include celebrity interviews, top 10 lists that typically revolve around a pop culture event (for example, after Ricky Martin came out we ran ‘10 Celebrities we’d Like to See Come Out Next’), features on events including film festivals, Pride the GLAAD Awards etc… We love fun, academic but often a little snarky deconstructions of videos, television and movies -- for instance, we ran a great one on Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video.
As news breaks by the minute on the Web, we also run short pieces – about 300 words-- on news relevant to the community, with commentary, opinion or history thrown in.
We would love to expand our pool of contributors with young voices. We can not offer pay but we can offer a byline, exposure from the company that owns The Advocate and Out magazines, press tickets to events you’d like to cover and interviews with actresses, musicians and community leaders based on availability.
Please contact SheWired’s Editor-in-Chief Tracy E. Gilchrist at tracy.gilchrist@shewired.com if you are interested in getting involved and getting your name and work out there.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION? THE PAPER WAS SKINNIER.
IT HAD MORE FILE FOOTAGE WHICH CAN BE DROPPED IN.EASILY AND LESS HARD NEWS.
THE MEETING PLACE HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD AND GIVEN HALF A PAGE. OFFLINE IS OUT OF HERE AND THE REAL ESTATE REPORTER COLUMN IS NO MORE.
WAS I SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED?
