(Charlotte, NC -- July 27, 2009) Campus Pride (www.campuspride.org) and CAMPUSPEAK (www.campuspeak.com) announced today a partnership between the two organizations to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and ally students at colleges and universities across the country, including exclusively representing the founder of Campus Pride Shane Windmeyer in his college speaking activities.
CAMPUSPEAK was founded in 1999 as a collegiate-based speaking agency. Based in Denver, CAMPUSPEAK has been recognized as “Agency of the Year” three times by Campus Activities Magazine. In recent years, the company has broadened its focus with interactive workshops and webinars.
Campus Pride was founded in 2001 and is based in Charlotte, NC. Campus Pride is the leading national nonprofit organization serving LGBT and ally college students and campus groups.
“The partnership makes perfect sense and brings value to Campus Pride by working closely with a company that values what we do,” Windmeyer said. “CAMPUSPEAK is a progressive-minded group committed to being an agenda-setting force in higher education, and we are simply a good match.”
Windmeyer has been a college speaker for more than a decade, visiting more than 500 colleges and universities. He has written a number of books including the The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students, profiling the “100 Best LGBT-Friendly Campuses” and is also the editor of Brotherhood: Gay Life in College Fraternities and co-editor of the books Inspiration for LGBT Students & Allies, Out on Fraternity Row: Personal Accounts of Being Gay in a College Fraternity and Secret Sisters: Stories of Being Lesbian & Bisexual in a College Sorority.
In addition to CAMPUSPEAK representing Windmeyer, the agency has sponsored the Campus Pride Summer Leadership Camp this July and the Out & Greek National Student Leadership Conference in November. CAMPUSPEAK will do a live webcast from the Out & Greek event, and Windmeyer will be doing webinar trainings on LGBT topics and hate crime prevention on behalf of CAMPUSPEAK Connect, the agency’s new online training division.
“Campus Pride’s staff and volunteers have been doing amazing work for several years, and I hope that we can assist them in their mission by giving them new opportunities to reach out to college campuses,” said T.J. Sullivan, CEO of CAMPUSPEAK. “Part of our core values is the advancement of human dignity, and that’s something we clearly share with Campus Pride.”
